Embrace the mistakes
in today’s society mistakes seem to be frowned upon … we get punished if we mess up, if we don’t do it right first time, or if things don’t go according to plan … especially in a work environment, and this seems to have translated across to our hobbies and things we do for fun … which sucks!
Making mistakes is all part of being human … and I bet when the robots take over, they will make mistakes as well … oh wait, then that would make them more human as well …
Anyway, when I make a mistake, I sometimes get frustrated that I didn’t do it right, but then after I have gotten over that initial frustration, I think about how I could have done it differently, and if I catch myself doing it in the moment, I’ll try to correct myself there and then.
I also have a book that I write down all of the things that happened on the day … and I’ll make a note of any mistakes that I made, in the hope of not making them in the future.
But in making mistakes, this is the best time to learn, I bet you’ve heard the saying “well you won’t do that again in a hurry now will you!” and this is when you’ve made one of those mistakes and it might just have been so catastrophic that you will have ingrained into your mind never to do it again …
And this should be embraced!
Mistakes are where you are vulnerable, where you can be humbled and where you will learn if you work out what you did wrong and how you can correct that mistake, if not this time, then next time.
So go out, take photos, and if it all goes wrong … try to work out why and then try to catch yourself before you make that mistake the next time you are out.
